14 arrested following Dalton massage parlor raid

DALTON, Ga. — Fourteen people have been arrested following a multi-agency investigation into prostitution at seven massage parlors in Dalton and Whitfield County, authorities said.

The Dalton Police Department, Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation served search warrants Sept. 22 at seven massage businesses as part of an investigation into prostitution and potential sex trafficking.

Dalton police said the investigation began after receiving a complaint from a citizen alleging prostitution was taking place at GQ Spa on Chattanooga Road.

Authorities said all seven businesses raided during the investigation will be permanently closed.

Police said women working at the businesses were interviewed to determine whether any were victims of sex trafficking. Authorities said no sex trafficking victims have been identified at any of the locations.

The investigation has been ongoing for several months, according to Whitfield County officials. Investigators are continuing to collect evidence and conduct interviews.

Ipboon Tooly

Garry Headrick, of Dalton

Neil Sundblad, of Cleveland, Tennessee

• Pandering
• Solicitation of sodomy

Headrick is the Tennessee and Georgia state director for Premier Girls Fastpitch, a softball league, and previously worked with USA Softball of Georgia, according to information provided by authorities.

Sundblad is a traveling evangelist and founder of Go Forth Ministries, a 501(c)(3) organization, according to information provided by authorities.

Authorities also executed a search warrant at Royal Spa, 3604 S. Dixie Highway, one of the seven locations targeted in the investigation.

All seven search warrants were executed at approximately 11 a.m. Sept. 22.

During a news conference following the raids, authorities said the businesses would be shut down. Officials also said they planned to work with county commissioners on an ordinance governing new massage parlors in an effort to prevent similar situations in the future.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said additional information may be released as investigators continue reviewing evidence and conducting interviews.

Arrest charges are allegations, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
