WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. – A Whitfield County woman was arrested Thursday after the sheriff’s office said she allegedly attempted to connect a juvenile with an adult man and failed to report suspected child abuse.
According to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, the Special Victims Unit concluded its investigation with the arrest of Maria Susanne Roberts on Oct. 1.
Investigators said the allegations stem from actions Roberts allegedly took while working as a school bus monitor.
According to the sheriff’s office, Roberts allegedly attempted to connect a juvenile with an adult male by providing the juvenile with the adult’s contact information.
Investigators also allege Roberts provided a juvenile with a pregnancy test after being told the juvenile could potentially be pregnant as a result of abuse.
Roberts was taken into custody at her home after a warrant was issued in connection with the allegations.
She was booked into the Whitfield County Jail on charges of enticing a child for indecent purposes, under O.C.G.A. 16-6-5, and failure to report suspected child abuse, under O.C.G.A. 19-7-5.
The case was investigated by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit.
The allegations contained in the warrant are accusations, and Roberts is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
