Two Arrested After Malnourished Dogs Rescued in Whitfield County

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. – Two people have been arrested on aggravated animal cruelty charges following an investigation into severely malnourished dogs at a Whitfield County property.
According to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began last week after the Animal Control Unit received a tip regarding dogs that were allegedly being severely neglected.
Animal Control deputies investigated the property and rescued numerous dogs described by the sheriff’s office as emaciated and malnourished. Deputies also discovered the remains of more than one dog that had died from starvation, according to the sheriff’s office.
The investigation resulted in warrants being issued for Robert Walker and Brittany Walker.
Both were taken into custody and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals under O.C.G.A. § 16-12-4.
Robert and Brittany Walker are being held at the Whitfield County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.
The investigation was conducted by the sheriff’s office Animal Control Unit, which said the case serves as a reminder that animal neglect and abuse will be investigated and prosecuted in Whitfield County.
